Icom have launched a new range of compact, waterproof digital two way radios….in fact these are the smallest Icom digital business radios yet. But don’t let size disguise that this is a sophisticated business radio that provides intelligent emergency functions and loud audio in a slim waterproof chassis. The IC-F1000D Series is ideal for a diverse customer base including those in the construction, manufacturing, facilities, security, retail and the hospitality & events markets.

Available in both VHF (IC-F1000D) and UHF (IC-F2000D), Icom’s new handheld series can programmed for Type-D single-site trunking, conventional digital and analogue communication. Digital features include individual/group calls and 15-bit digital voice encryption. The radio promotes field safety by automatically sending an emergency signal when motion detection, man down and/or lone worker functions are activated. GPS position data transmission is available (GPS speaker-microphone is required).

The IC-F1000D digital two way radio series is compact and rated IP67 and Mil-Spec for waterproof, dust-tight and military-tough construction. The portable radio delivers 800mW loud audio and includes a channel announcement function and long-lasting battery life. These practical features provide convenient communication in noisy outdoors environments for up to 18 hours.

Manufacturer Hytera UK has released its Series 4 PD405 and PD415 DMR radios in the UK.

Both radios are designed for use in sectors such as security, residential, hotel and warehousing environments. The company states that they are ideal for businesses aiming to progressively switch from analogue to digital with a mixed infrastructure. The PD405 is rated to IP55 and PD415 IP54, with both meeting MIL-STD 810 C/D/E/F/G standards.

Features on both radios include analogue and digital mixed channels as handsets detect both signals, automatically switching between the two modes. This is received on a single channel, replying to received calls whilst the talk back timer remains. Hytera has designed the PD415 Digital Patrol Radio for industries where RFID tags are used as ID tokens. This RFID system features an open API to allow third party software developers to produce applications for the technology.

The Good Design Award recognises cutting-edge product designs from around the world. The award was presented to Motorola Solutions by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

Kenwood have launched the TK-3401D ProTalk Digital and TK-3501 ProTalk analogue PMR 446 hand-portable radios.

The new TK-3401D ProTalk digital radio has the advantages of digital radio communications in a licence-free format, including increased coverage, improved audio quality and security. It is built on the ETSI compliant dPMR protocol and features 16 channels in each of two zones for congestion-free communications. A dual mode allows existing analogue users to migrate to digital while continuing to use existing radios.

The TK-3501 ProTalk is a compact, lightweight and durable professional analogue hand-portable radio. It features extended range over its predecessor, the TK-3301, through an improved RX section and volume with a 1.5w BTL amplifier. The new ProTalk license-free radios follow its dPMR and DMR ranges and the ATEX extension for the NEXEDGE digital portfolio.
